Edward Moore

Tyne Flint Glass Works

South Shields

1860 – 1913

Shortridge, Sawyer and Co was acquired by Edward Moore in 1860. He set about expanding the company and it flourished producing high quality pressed glass. In 1888 he acquired the moulds of Joseph Webb of the Coalbourn Hill Glass Works Stourbridge. He introduced a lot of new colours in pressed glass which helped to expand his sales. He died on the 4th May 1900 and his son and widow continued the business until 1913 when they ceased trading and their moulds were bought by Messrs Davidson & Co Gateshead.
