Jobling Glass

During the 1930’s James A Jobling was employing over 1000 workers in his glass factory in Sunderland. Okay he was producing English Pyrex but he introduced opalescent glass to his production line. The standard of the design was on a parallel with Lalique art deco. The quality was also A1 because he used Frankhauser in France to make his moulds. He also used the same mould maker for his Jade and Uranium glass moulds. It is a pity that the outbreak of World War 2 killed the market for this kind of art deco glass.
